Unveiling ambitious plans last week (25th August), Oxy said they hope the plant will have the capacity to capture up to one million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, once fully scaled.
The plans are part of 1PointFive’s goal to deploy 70 DAC facilities worldwide by 2035.

The decision to proceed with construction follows the successful completion of a front-end engineering and design study and extensive testing and validation at the Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre.
1PointFive and Carbon Engineering earlier this year (June 2022) announced plans to accelerate the roll-out of DAC facilities by standardising the design of plants to deliver complete and operationally ready facilities to local partners.

Further to the above, Oxy has also entered into an agreement with Origis Energy to provide zero-emission solar power for the DAC plant and other projects in the Permian Basin.
